Alyssa Hope, a junior at Martin Luther King High, won the girls triple jump title with a wind-aided mark of 40-2.75 (12.26m) in the fifth round at the CIF State Championships at Buchanan High's Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis, Calif. Hope also finished second in the long jump with a wind-aided 20-4 (6.19m), making her the only female athlete in the state this season to surpass both 20 feet and 40 feet, in addition to winning the first state title in program history.
